Only here: An exclusive English Summary of my book the Power of the Smile

My book, The Power of the Smile – 7 Guidelines for a Better Work Life,  published in 2024, is currently available only in Danish. But right here, you can explore an exclusive English summary.  This book is more than just a guide to a better work life. It forms part of the foundation for my new two-year life project: Conversations that Matter – When East Meets West.

It is a deeply personal book born from real life, built on deep professional insight. The content rests on a comprehensive and solid professional foundation and has been tested in practice through coaching sessions with more than one hundred employees — as well as in my own personal life.

Far too many people are not thriving in their working lives. How about you? To work is also to live. If you thrive in your working life, you will also thrive in life as a whole. Every now and then, it’s worth pausing to reflect on how you are really doing. You can do this with the power of your smile — and with the book’s seven guidelines for life.

My book is the result of my own search for a fulfilling work life — a journey that brought me to one of the world’s most spectacular personal development events in Florida, Date with Destiny with American coach Tony Robbins, and to a study visit at the Dalai Lama’s temple in the Himalayas in northern India.

This journey also inspired me to design and deliver coaching programs for 110 employees — where 88% responded: “Yes, we believe we can improve our work life with the tools from this program.”

“Inspiring and engaging. The principles are simple and accessible to everyone. You can sense American inspiration, yet the book is rooted in a Danish context and useful from page one.”  (Professional Review, Danish Library Center)

When Death knocked on my Door …

When Death knocked on my Door …

This is more than just words. A story, an invitation to you, written from a long retreat. Exactly one year ago, my heart stopped. Today, I’m sitting in Portugal, writing – about life, trust, and Eastern wisdom. When death knocked on my door, everything changed. It sounds so banal. But it’s not.

How can every single moment in life hold such life and magic? How much of it I’ve rushed past. I’ve lived so much in thoughts. About back and forth. About yesterday and tomorrow. Thoughts that are nothing but… thoughts. They are not – and have never been – reality.

Behind the smile

I will never again live or work as before. We live as if tomorrow will come, but how can we know that? I will always strive to look back over my shoulder. In every single moment. With a smile.

Life is so beautiful. I’ve done the best I could. And I’ll keep doing that – with different choices. In my personal story Behind the Smile, I’ve written a bit more.

Looking back, it strikes me: Through all my schooling, leadership training, development projects, performance reviews and career – I never learned much about my body, my mind, or my psychology.

There is only one reason why I’m mentally and humanly back in life today: My yoga practice – and my journey into Eastern wisdom through body, mind, and soul. Combined with my education and experience as a master coach, it has made all the difference.

I know it works

My journey now continues here by the Atlantic Ocean in Portugal. And that’s why my upcoming workshop “Dear Brain – What Can Yoga Really Do for You?” is, to me, far more than just another workshop.

It marks my first small and humble step into my new life project – unfolding so beautifully, slowly, and vividly in its own “time-atypical” rhythm.

I want to share some of what has brought me back to life. In different ways. Including the newest things I’m experiencing and realizing here in Portugal. Because I know it works.

And I truly believe that many of us, in this changing, confusing, and information-polluted time, need to take much better care of our brains and our mental health.

Both in life and in work – because you know what – you don’t actually have a life and a work life.
It’s the same life. You only have one.

Conversations that Matter – is it time to Shake the Dust?

Conversations that Matter – is it time to Shake the Dust?

The phrase Shake the Dust comes from both the Bible and the world of yoga. Is there something we’ve forgotten? We modern, wise humans. Do we need more depth? More Conversations that Matter?

Here’s the truth: Far too many are struggling with well-being in modern work & life.

We talk—and we talk. We form committees, launch reforms, and invest billions in workplace wellbeing. And still—stress, burnout, and loneliness keep rising.

Maybe the answer lies in sensing and discovering joy in more of what surrounds you—in what moves you—and letting that joy take root, grow, and guide you.

Maybe true change is about reconnecting with something older, deeper. When East meets West, when wisdom meets science, something powerful can awaken.

It takes the courage to choose differently. This is not a brand. This is not a business. In my new two-year life project “New Ways to Break the Paradox of Modern Happiness” – I invite to:

Conversation that Matters

With you?

Postscript:

The phrase Shake the Dust comes from both the Bible and the world of yoga. It’s a metaphor for shaking off the old and moving forward into something new and more welcoming. In the Bible, the act of shaking dust from your feet symbolized the end of a mission—when you’ve done all you could, but it’s time to move on. In yoga, it’s a practice of releasing what no longer serves you by bringing you out of your head and deep into your body, so you can feel stronger, more connected, and free.
